As a property maintenance technician, you help maintain the face of our company both internally and externally. The quality of your work directly impacts our customer experience.

Additionally, you will have the following capabilities and skills:

Required Job Duties:

  • Inspect buildings and structures for functional systems, clearly document repairs needed
  • Perform basic maintenance on resident manager apartments, plumbing, electrical, gates, doors and storage unit components
  • Painting & exterior building repair
  • Strong attention to detail and sense or urgency
  • Effectively manage time and priorities meeting deadlines
  • Shifts will be communicated and scheduled using an online maintenance program and scheduling system
  • Customer service, including internal employees and external vendors and customers
  • Detailed documentation and clear communication is required
  • Bring a “can-do” attitude and contagious enthusiasm every day.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions: 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Must read, write and speak English fluently
  • Ability to stay on task and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Actively communicate with supervisor and escalate concerns immediately
  • Develop a basic understanding of the company's policies, procedures and values
  • Knowledge and use of common hand and power tools
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Schedule may require flexibility during peak season, with possible weekend work

Performance Expectations: 

  • Meet and exceed individual objectives as defined by your supervisor
  • Adhere to schedule and deadlines including on-time arrival to all job sites
  • Reliable, regular, and predictable attendance
  • Thoroughness, accuracy and timeliness in completing essential duties

Physical Requirements: 

  • Willingness and ability to bend, kneel, squat, walk, stoop, crawl, sit, stand, push and pull throughout scheduled shift in awkward positions and spaces. 
  • Willingness and ability to push a minimum of 100 lbs. and lift 50 lbs.
  • Willingness and ability to climb and safely use various types of ladders
  • Have strong hearing capabilities
  • Have the visual acuity to inspect and diagnose issues including the ability to see colors

Environmental Conditions: 

  • Work outside in a variety of weather conditions
  • Noise level may require hearing protection
  • Hard hat & steel toed shoes required at times
  • Projects may necessitate working safely at a variety of heights
  • May work with paints and solvents, cleaning supplies and other approved chemicals


  • A minimum of 3 years property maintenance experience required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

Additional Requirements: 

  • Maintenance technicians are required to provide their own set of hand tools to complete the duties of the role. Northwest Self Storage will provide specialty tools and supplies.

  • $2,000 hiring bonus
  • $23.00/hr and up depending on experience
